Iran Press/ Iran news: Davood Tafti, CEO of the Caspian Shipping Company, said on Tuesday: "Soon, two more ships will be added to Iran's shipping fleet in the Caspian Sea, and there is good competition between the land, rail and port borders."
Tafti added: "For the first time, a container transport line from the port of Astara in northern Iran to the port of Astrakhan has been activated and 2 ships are loaded every week to the Russian ports of Astrakhan and Aqtau in Kazakhstan."
The multi-purpose port of Astara, the first private sector port in Iran and the closest and most cost-effective route for trade and transportation of goods between Asia, Africa, and Europe, is designed to unload and load 2,500-ton ships.
The city of Astara is located in northern Iran, on the shores of the Caspian Sea and in the neighborhood of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and has three borders: land, sea, and rail.
