Tehran (IP) - Iran's Health Ministry Spokeswoman announced that so far, over 180,000 people in the country have been infected with the coronavirus, and more than 142,000 of total infected people have recovered.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking about the latest data on the coronavirus in the country and its death toll on Thursday, Sima Sadat Lari said: "According to the definitive laboratory findings and from yesterday to June 11 in the country, 2,238 new patients with COVID-19 were diagnosed and the number of patients with this disease reached to 180,156."

688 of new patients were hospitalized, she added.

Fortunately, 142,663 patients have recovered and have been discharged so far, Lari said.

The Spokeswoman stated: "Unfortunately, in the past 24 hours, 78 COVID-19 patients have lost their lives, bringing the total deaths to 8,584."

The official stated: "2,728 patients are in a critical condition."

So far, around 1,173,208 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted in the country," the Health Ministry Spokeswoman said.

According to the Spokeswoman, Khuzestan, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Kerman, and Hormozgan provinces are still in a critical or alarming situation. 

Sima Sadat Lari was appointed as the Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health on Tuesday. She replaced Kianoosh Jahanpour, a former spokesman for the Ministry.
