Iran Press/ America: Majid Takht-Ravanchi, ambassador and permanent representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations wrote in a Twitter message on Sunday morning: "5 years after Adoption Day of JCPOA in accordance with UNSCR 2231, illegal arms restrictions on Iran are now terminated."
He added: "As of today, Iran's arms trade needs no prior consent from UNSC. The US tried to prevent this, but it failed, as the UNSC rejected all US efforts."
According to Annex 5 of JCPOA and Annex B of Resolution 2231 on the end of the arms embargo on Iran at the end of the fifth year, the arms embargo on Iran ended today, October 18.
On 18 October, the Iranian Foreign Ministry also released a statement on termination of UNSC Security arms restrictions and travel ban, saying the definitive and unconditional termination of arms restrictions and travel bans requires no new resolution.
