Tehran(IP)- Foreign Minister of Iran called the active presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in international forums one of the steps of the balanced foreign policy doctrine of the Iranian government.

Iran PressIran News: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, left for Cape Town, South Africa on Thursday morning at the head of a delegation, in a bid to participate in the Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs and on his third trip to the African continent.

In this regard and according to Iran press; Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, on the eve of his trip to South Africa to participate in the BRICS foreign ministers meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, wrote in a tweet:

"BRICS represents half of the world's population, which represents about one-fifth of the world's economy."

Amir- Abdollahian added: "Active presence in international forums is one of the steps of the balanced foreign policy doctrine of the Iranian government."

The BRICS foreign ministers meeting will be held on June 1 in Cape Town, South Africa.

Iran ready to cooperate with all world countries: FM

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa, as the host of this meeting, has invited the ministers of the countries applying for BRICS membership, including Amir -Abdollahian, to participate in the meeting of BRICS friends.

This meeting will serve as a prelude to the upcoming meeting of the senior officials of the BRICS countries.

In addition to participating in the joint meeting of the foreign ministers of the BRICS member countries and BRICS-friendly countries, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran is scheduled to meet bilaterally with the foreign minister of the host country as well as a number of foreign ministers of the countries participating in this meeting and discussed topics of interest and will exchange views.

The BRICS group includes the world's emerging economic countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, which account for about half of the world's population. They cover 30% of the world's area and a quarter of the investments made in the world have been attracted in these countries.

The importance of this group and its role in the global economy has caused many countries, including Iran, to request membership in this economic and commercial organization.
