Tehran (IP) - Iran's Acting Foreign Minister in a telephone conversation with his Italian counterpart said that Tehran insists on its inherent and legitimate right to take countermeasures against the Israeli regime while continuing its efforts to stop the aggression against Gaza.

Iran PressIran news: In a conversation with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Iran's Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Bagheri referring to the history of Tehran-Rome relations, assessed the continuation of talks aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in various areas of interest as important.

Referring to the ten-month continuation of the Zionist regime's crimes in Gaza and the expansion of the scope of the war to other countries in the region, Bagheri noted: "The attack of the Israeli regime on the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, the cowardly attack on a residential area in Beirut, and the assassination of an official guest of the Islamic Republic of Iran are clear examples of the Zionists' efforts to expand the scope of the war to other countries in the region."

Bagheri Kani argued that the recent displays of aggression and clear breaches of territorial integrity and national sovereignty in Iran, Lebanon, and Syria are evident instances of the Israeli regime's attempts to escalate conflict throughout the region.

Bagheri emphasized that the recent aggressive actions are a clear violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, Lebanon and the Islamic Republic of Iran, thus, Tehran insists on its inherent and legitimate right to retaliate at the same time as it continues its efforts to stop the aggression against Gaza.

The Italian foreign minister emphasized the significance of enhancing bilateral relations and sustaining discussions on a range of topics, with a particular focus on regional matters.

He also stressed the need to advance the joint efforts of the US, Qatar, and Egypt to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Tajani also expressed concern over the escalation of tensions in the region and called on all sides to restrain in order to help halt the war and implement the ceasefire in Gaza. 219
