The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has issued a statement addressing the latest developments in Syria, emphasizing its unwavering support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Iran Press/West Asia: The statement underscores that the future of Syria must be determined solely by its people, free from any foreign interference or coercion.

The Iranian government called for an immediate end to military conflicts and terrorist activities in Syria. It also advocated for inclusive national dialogues involving all segments of Syrian society to establish a representative government that reflects the will of its citizens.

Reaffirming its commitment to international efforts, Iran highlighted its continued support for the United Nations-led political process in Syria, particularly under Security Council Resolution 2254. It pledged to maintain constructive cooperation with the UN in this context.

“At this critical juncture in Syria’s history, ensuring the security of all citizens, safeguarding religious and diplomatic sites, and adhering to international law are of paramount importance,” the statement read.

Iran also highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between the Iranian and Syrian nations, expressing hope for the continuation of these ties based on shared interests and mutual respect.

Recognizing Syria’s strategic importance in West Asia, Iran vowed to assist in efforts to restore stability and security in the region. It plans to continue consultations with key regional and international stakeholders to achieve this goal.

The ministry assured that Iran will closely monitor the situation in Syria and adjust its policies as necessary, based on the actions and behavior of influential actors in the country’s political and security landscape.
