Iran Press/Iran News: In reaction to the border clashes between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, Saeed Katibzadeh said the Islamic Republic of Iran, with concern, followed up the recent clashes that have resulted in the death and injury of a number of citizens of both sides.
“While appreciating the urgent measures taken by the leaders of the two countries that have led to the cessation of these conflicts, we are confident that the continuation of negotiations between the two countries will lead to the peaceful settlement of any border dispute,” Katibzadeh added.
The clashes that erupted along the poorly demarcated border between the two mountainous countries over a reservoir and pumping station are the heaviest in recent years and have raised concerns they might escalate into a wider conflict.
