Tehran (IP) - Vice President for Science and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran honored the Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cells (CAR T Cells) production in the country saying that the product would be a great help to cure cancer in the country at a lower price.

Iran PressIran News: During a ceremony on Monday, Sorena Sattari noted: "CAR T Cell is an evolving idea in the medical field that Iran was able to produce shortly after it produced in the world.”

10 medical products were unveiled like COVID-19 Neutralizing Antibody Test, Temporary Eye Tape, a DNA extraction kit that can extract DNA easily and without much cost, and with very small amounts of tissue and human and animal samples. The advantages offered for magnetic methods include reduced reaction costs, elimination of labor-intensive steps, easy automation and performance, and high purity of extracted DNA in the shortest time compared to other methods. The main one was CAR T Cell which has produced for the first time in the country.

CAR T Cell is a type of treatment in which a patient's T cells (a type of immune system cell) are changed in the laboratory so they will attack cancer cells. T cells are taken from a patient’s blood. Then the gene for a special receptor that binds to a certain protein on the patient’s cancer cells is added to the T cells in the laboratory. The special receptor is called a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR). Large numbers of CAR T cells are grown in the laboratory and given to the patient by infusion. CAR T-cell therapy is used to treat certain blood cancers, and it is being studied in the treatment of other types of cancers. Also called chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy.

The unveiling ceremony of specialized accelerators, stem cells, reconstructive medicine, and knowledge-based companies' products was held at Tehran University of Medical Sciences with the presence of Vice President for Science and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sorena Sattari on Monday morning.
