Tehran (IP) – Iranian foreign minister says that the volume of trade between Iran and Iraq in the past seven months has increased 4.5 times compared to the same period in the previous Iranian year.

Iran PressIran News: During his visit to Tehran, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday evening.

This is his second official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran during Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's administration.

At the press conference after the meeting, Amir-Abdollhian stated that firstly, they discussed visa waivers between the two countries.

He added that the tourism industry could play a crucial role in further developing Iran-Iraq relations.

Later on, he said: "We welcome Iraq's role in resuming Iranian-Saudi talks."

The Iranian foreign minister said: "We agreed on the developments in Yemen and welcomed the establishment of a ceasefire, lifting the inhumane siege on Yemen, and the Yemeni-Yemeni talks."

Regarding Syria, he said: "We oppose the occupation of military bases in parts of Syria, and the Syrian people must decide on their future in the light of their independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity."

Referring to Afghanistan, Amir-Abdollahian also said they discussed the latest developments in the country and urged the formation of an inclusive government with the participation of all ethnic groups in Afghanistan.

The Iranian foreign minister then referred to the recent attacks on Iranian diplomatic missions in Afghanistan: "An unfortunate incident took place in front of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul and the Consulate General in Herat. The presentation of flowers tried to show that the common enemies of the two countries will not be able to conspire and create problems and insecurity on the common borders and relations between Iran and Afghanistan."

"We also consider the recognition of the governing body of Afghanistan to be conditional on the formation of an inclusive government in this country," he reiterated.
