Tehran (IP) - The second joint trade committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq was held in Tehran on Tuesday with the presence of Iranian and Iraqi delegations.

Iran PressIran news: Solving logistics problems to reach the goals specified in the previous joint committee was one of the most important issues raised in the meeting.

Mehdi Zeighami, deputy minister and head of the Iran Trade Development Organization, said: "Today we will examine the solutions for establishing a trade balance and the assistance that the Iraqi side can provide in this regard."

He added: "Examining bans and seasonal restrictions between the two countries is one of the other issues raised today."

Zeighami emphasized: "Examining the latest status of technical and engineering projects between the two countries and border markets is also one of the other issues on the agenda."

Following the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Commerce of Iraq, Sattar Jaber Al-Jabari, said: "Despite the border, ideological and cultural commonality of the two countries, all existing problems have turned into opportunities."

Pointing out that in the economic context, the volume of trade balance should be realized, he added: "In this regard, the development of private sector activities and the reduction of oil exports are considered."

Al-Jabari pointed out that the current government of Iraq is a government of real planning and said that the Prime Minister of Iraq is following up on the issues raised in the joint trade committee and the railway connection between the two countries and construction is one of the things he emphasizes.

Al-Jabari added: "The two nations trust the committee and hope to take the necessary measures to follow up the affairs through bilateral meetings and follow-ups."

referring to the open gates of Iraq, he said: "There are many investment opportunities in Iraq and we welcome Iranian investors in Iraq."
