Hook or Abrams, no difference in US approach towards Iran: FM spox

Tehran (IP) - Referring to the step down of Brian Hook, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said in his latest tweet that the US foreign policy towards Iran does not differ as officials are changed.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said in his tweet on Friday: "No difference between John Bolton, Brian Hook or Elliott Abrams; when it comes to the US foreign policy towards Iran."

He further stated in his tweet that American officials have been bitten off more than they could chew.

He added that the same applies to Mike Pompeo, Donald Trump, and their successors.

US administration's Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook has stepped down on the eve of an administration effort to persuade an unwilling UN Security Council to extend the expiring conventional weapons ban on Tehran, the Washington Post reported on Friday.

In a statement announcing his departure, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo described it as Hook’s decision and did not offer a reason. "Following a transition period," Pompeo said, the Iran portfolio would be taken over by Elliot Abrams, the administration’s special envoy for Venezuela, who would hold both jobs.
