Qalibaf: Iran-India relations, deep, historical

Tehran (IP) - The Speaker of Iran's Parliament described Iran and India as two influential countries in the ancient continent of Asia that enjoy long and deep cultural ties.

Iran PressIran News: In a meeting with the Indian Ambassador to Iran, Gaddam Dharmendra on Monday, Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf welcomed the Indian ambassador saying: "Cooperation between Iran and India has always been effective at the regional, international and non-aligned levels."

Iranian Parliament Speaker, while expressing hope for the further expansion of relations between Iran and India, said: "We should not allow some third parties to influence the deep and historical relations between Iran and India."

Qalibaf stated that trade relations are among the important issues between countries to influence relations in the field of politics and culture.

Iranian Parliament Speaker invited his Indian counterpart to pay an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Gaddam Dharmendra, the Indian Ambassador to Iran, also presented a congratulatory message of the Speaker of the Indian Parliament on the occasion of the beginning of the new term of the Iranian Parliament and Qalibaf's presidency.

Referring to the 70th anniversary of the Iran-India Friendship and Peace Agreement, he said: "The Speaker of the Indian Parliament was scheduled to visit Iran, which was postponed due to the outbreak of coronavirus and dramatic changes in the world."

The Indian Ambassador to Iran stated: "India has tried to stabilize and promote better and more the relations between Tehran and New Delhi due to the civil, historical and cultural commonalities, and we are in constant contact with the Iranian Government and Parliament."

Stating that parliamentary exchanges between the two countries have always been ongoing, Dharmendra said: "India still wants to have continuous interaction with Iran, of course, in these circumstances, the various committees of the two countries' parliaments are in contact with each other."
