Ahmad Motevaselian was one of four Iranians who disappeared in Lebanon in 1982

Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Ministry on the anniversary of the abduction of the Iranian diplomats in 1982 stressed on its proposal to form a fact-finding committee by the International Committee of the Red Cross to follow the case up.

Iran Press/Iran News: The Iranian Foreign Ministry in a statement once again urged Lebanese officials, as well as the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, and other international bodies, to exercise their inherent, legal and humanitarian duty to pursue the case of the kidnapped Iranian diplomats.

"Despite passing many years of this criminal and terrorist move, unfortunately, the international community and human rights organizations have not taken any serious action against the crime, and the Zionist regime, which continues to commit crimes and violates international law and with the support of the United States, evades the responsibility for his actions," the statement remarked.

The statement appreciated the Lebanese government's efforts in shedding light on the issue of the four diplomats, including a letter to the then-UN Secretary-General in September 2008.

The Foreign Ministry also sympathized with the families of the very diplomats and expressed hope that all detainees jailed in the Israeli regime's prison, especially the four Iranian diplomats will be released soon.

Ahmad Motusalian, Mohsen Mousavi, Kazem Akhavan, and Taghi Rastegar-Moghadam were kidnapped by the Israeli mercenaries in 1982 in a military check-point in northern Lebanon.
