Iran PressIran news: The International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) is a non-governmental cooperative federation or, more precisely, a joint union representing cooperatives and the cooperative movement worldwide.

The Spokesman of Iran's Government, Ali Bahadori Jahromi, said in a tweet on Monday: Facilitating the economic and social progress, transferring up-to-date experience and knowledge into the country, improving the quality and quantity of cooperatives, and increasing the export of cooperative products to new markets are some of the advantages of the membership of the board of the ICA.

The body was founded in 1895 to unite, represent and serve cooperatives worldwide. The Alliance maintains the internationally recognized definition of a cooperative in the "Statement on the Cooperative Identity."

The ICA represents 318 cooperative federations and organizations in 112 countries.

The Alliance provides a global voice and forum for knowledge, expertise, and coordinated action for and about cooperatives.
