Foreign Minister and EU Foreign Policy Chief discussed the latest international and regional developments and relations between Iran and the European side.

Iran PressIran news: "Iran has presented its viewpoints to the American side with a constructive and forward-looking approach," Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told Josep Borrell during a phone call with Josep Borrell on Tuesday.

Amir-Abdollahian stressed the need for Europe to deal seriously and effectively with Islamophobia.

He strongly condemned the sacrilege of Islamic sanctities and the Holy Quran in Sweden, which hurt the feelings of Muslims around the world.

Iran's Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue channels in the effort to achieve a common understanding between Iran and Europe and described the recent negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the European parties as frank and constructive.

Regarding the developments in Ukraine, Amir-Abdollahian added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a supporter of peace and stability in the world, including Ukraine, and in this context believes that stopping the war is only possible through political initiatives."

The Iranian top diplomat pointed to the backgrounds and actions of the terrorist group Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO), and considered the recent move of the Albanian government to deal with the terrorist group, although late, but an experience for European countries, which have endangered the security of their people by supporting the MKO.

For his part, Borrell welcomed the ongoing cooperation and negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), calling its continuation useful and positive.

"Insulting the Holy Quran is not the position of the European Union, and any action against religions is completely condemned by the European Union," said Borrell.

The parties also exchanged views on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the positive cooperation of the IAEA.

Referring to the negotiations on the removal of anti-Iran sanctions, EU Foreign Policy Chief said, "The JCPOA and maintaining its structure, as well as the continuation of constructive negotiations on the one hand, and the process of normalizing relations between Tehran and Riyadh on the other hand, are the issues that EU cares about."
