Ongoing Israeli Crimes in Gaza
In his address to the Security Council, Bagheri Kani detailed the extensive international crimes committed by the "Israeli-occupying regime" in Gaza over the past 285 days. He stated that through a "campaign of brutality and terror," Israel has massacred innocent civilians, mostly women and children, at a rate of 20 killed or injured per hour. The regime has destroyed over 80% of residential areas and all infrastructure, including hospitals, mosques, schools, and historical sites .
Impunity and Inaction of the Security Council
Bagheri Kani condemned the Israeli regime's continued crimes against Palestinians despite global condemnation and numerous UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian aid delivery. He accused the Council of historical failures and inaction that have emboldened Israel to commit more atrocities with impunity.
Responsibility of the United States
The Iranian minister directly called out the United States, as Israel's "strategic ally and main supporter," for its role in enabling the regime's crimes through extensive financial, military, and intelligence support, as well as its "hypocritical" mediation efforts.
Demands for Security Council Action
Bagheri Kani urged the Security Council to fulfill its "legal, political, and human duty" by adopting a comprehensive resolution under Chapter VII of the UN Charter to compel Israel to immediately end its aggression, implement a permanent ceasefire, lift the Gaza siege, withdraw from occupied territories, and provide compensation for damages. He also called for the prosecution of Israeli commanders and perpetrators of war crimes .
Iran strongly warn against any action against Lebanon
Recently, the warmongering leaders of this regime have been under the illusion that expanding the war to Lebanon can save them from the quagmire of Gaza. This is an absurd and dangerous miscalculation and exacerbates the already chaotic situation in this sensitive region to spiral out of control, said the diplomat.
"In this chamber and from this podium, I would like to strongly warn against any adventurous action by this rogue regime and its consequences. Undoubtedly, any aggression against Lebanon, as an independent member state of the United Nations, by the Zionist regime will be met with a decisive and disappointing response from the international community, the nations of the region, and the resistance groups. It is evident that the responsibility of the United States, as the strategic ally and main supporter of the regime in the region, cannot be denied in the face of any potential aggression by the regime against Lebanon," added Bagheri.
