Havana (IP) - Iran's Minister of Health and Medical Education has announced the expansion of medical cooperation and vaccine production between Iran and Cuba.

Iran PressAmerica: On the sidelines of the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Cuba, Iran's Minister of Health and Medical Education Bahram Einollahi, stating the proper health status of Cuba, further added that Iran has been cooperating with Cuba in the field of health and medication since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

"Cuba is one of the advanced countries in the field of vaccine production," said Einollahi, referring to the cooperation between Iran's Pasteur Institute (IPI) with Cuba in COVID-19 vaccine production.

Referring to the signing of memoranda of understanding on cooperation between Iran and Cuba in vaccine production, Iran's Health Minister noted that the cooperation between the two countries in producing new vaccines would be continued.  

Iran's Health Minister, elsewhere, says with the proposal of the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the approval of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba (MINASP) production of new vaccines will be started.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Havana on Thursday morning and was welcomed by Cuban officials at Havana's José Martí International Airport.

At the head of a political and economic delegation, Iran's president, on Monday, headed to Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba to bolster the relations with friendly countries.
