Moscow's Deputy Minister of Science has announced the formation of a subcommittee dedicated to scientific and technological cooperation between Russia and Iran. This initiative follows a recent agreement with the Iranian side within the framework of the two nations' ongoing joint commission.

Iran Press/Europe: Ayrat Gatiatov revealed these developments on Tuesday, during a meeting with Ayatollah Alireza Aarafi, Head of Iran’s Seminary, who visited Russia at the invitation of Ravil Gaynutdin, head of the Russian Muslim's Religious Administration, to participate in the "Spiritual Silk Road" international conference.

"The coordination for the composition of the joint committee's members is underway, aiming to host its inaugural session in Russia," said Gatiatov during the gathering, which also included Kazem Jalali, Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow. He also stated that the seventeenth session of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission between the two countries decided to hold a competition for presenting joint research projects among researchers, which is currently being coordinated.

Referring to the sixth assembly of the heads of leading universities from Iran and Russia at Moscow State University last year, Gatiatov remarked, "These meetings have always been fruitful, resulting in practical outcomes and the signing of cooperation agreements."

He continued, explaining that currently, 15 joint projects in fields such as material sciences and biotechnology are underway, with budgets ranging from $40,000 to $70,000. These projects, set to last three years, are in collaboration with researchers from both countries.

In conclusion, Gatiatov touched on the challenges faced by over eight thousand Iranian students in Russia, especially in medical fields where 95% face diploma recognition issues. He expressed hope for an improved process for recognizing and accepting the qualifications of Iranian medical graduates from Russian universities.
