Iranian vice president and the Russian prime minister in a meeting in Turkmenistan emphasized on the need to coordinate efforts to expand cooperation to counter the US sanctions.

Iran Press/Asia: Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev in a meeting with Iranian Vice President, Eshaq Jahangiri called a great opportunity to coordinate the two countries' actions in a situation that Moscow and Tehran are under pressure from the US sanctions.

The meeting was held at the sidelines of the first "Caspian Economic Summit" in Turkmenistan

"We welcome such meetings that coordinate the actions of the two countries," Medvedev said, adding, "this meeting is a very good opportunity to coordinate action, as our countries are researching important plans for their economic development while not competing in the field of foreign competition, and we need to take action together."

The Iranian vice president, in his turn, agreed with the Russian prime minister's view that the Caspian economic forum provided a good opportunity to discuss some issues in bilateral relations.

First "Caspian Economic Summit" kicked off on August 12 in the Republic of Turkmenistan.

The meeting was proposed by Turkmen President, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov at the fifth summit of the Caspian littoral states and was welcomed by other leaders of the five Caspian littoral states.
