Iran Press/Iran news: Addressing the reporters on Thursday on the sidelines of the 21st meeting of the ministers of gas exporting countries in Moscow, known as gas OPEC, the Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said: “We are ready to maintain the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz together with other countries in the region and this must be done only by ourselves (the countries of the Persian Gulf).”
“The countries of the region should consider Iran as a friendly country because it has been a friend of everyone and I believe we have no enemy in the region,” added the Oil Minister at the end of his two-day visit to Moscow to attend a panel of Russian Energy Week (REW 2019), according to Iran Press.
“The enemy is from the outside of this region and if there has been a dispute, Iran hasn’t been the one who started it,” Zanganeh noted.
He went on to say that Russia, as the top natural gas exporter in the world, is looking forward to having a major role in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) trade but they have been facing pressure from the US.
Zanganeh concluded that US unilateralism has been threatening the world and even the Europeans are against such behavior by Washington.
Speaking at a meeting in Moscow's Metropol Hotel earlier on Thursday, Iran's Oil Minister also stressed the need to expand cooperation among gas OPEC members with the aim of tackling the challenges facing the global gas industry. 101/211/214
