Iran (IP) - The first stage of the 36th international Iran-Azerbaijan cycling tour kicked off in Urmia on Sunday, northwestern Iran.

Iran PressIran News: Participated by 82 cyclists from 15 countries, the tour race begins from Tabriz' El Gili Park of East Azerbaijan Province and ends in Al-Ghadir Park of Urmia, West Azerbaijan, while cycling a route of 153.8 km. 

Iran, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Iraq, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Mongolia, the Philippines, and China are among the countries that have sent athletes to the contest. 

The cyclist, later in the next stages must compete in 148.9 km Tabriz-Jolfa, 128.3 km Jolfa-Shabestar, 211 km Tabriz-Ardabil, and 197.9 km Sarein-Tariz routes. 

The total route is 840 km, where the cyclers must compete with each other.
