IP- During the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) leaders' summit in Kampala, Uganda, the first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the foreign minister of the Philippines met to discuss and emphasize the development of their bilateral relations.

Iran PressAfrica: In their meeting, Mohammad Mokhber highlighted that the current trade volume between the two countries is not satisfactory.He stressed the need to activate the private sector on both sides and remove obstacles hindering economic exchanges to improve this situation.

Mokhber also pointed out Iran's potential in medicine, medical equipment, agriculture, and petrochemicals as promising areas for furthering bilateral relations.

Philippine Foreign Minister Enrique Manalo expressed his country's desire to enhance economic ties with Iran. He mentioned that several consultations were held in 2023 to identify areas of mutual interest such as technical and scientific cooperation, waste management, sea management, agriculture, and renewable energy. Manalo expressed hope that these efforts will yield positive results in the new year.
