South Africa (IP) - The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) says Brazil is of impotence in Iranian foreign policy.

Iran PressAfrica: Ali-Akbar Ahmadian left Iran for South Africa to take part in the meeting of national security advisors and secretaries of the BRICS member countries at the formal invitation of the South African Minister of the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni.

Meeting with Celso Amorim, the assistant of the Brazilian President, on Tuesday on the sidelines of the event, Ahmadian stressed the expansion of economic relations in agriculture and commercial exchange centered on the private sector.

Ahmadian expressed hope that with the Islamic Republic of Iran's joining the BRICS group soon, the relations between Tehran and Brasilia would be further improved.

Celso, for his part, highlighted the common grounds of the two countries and announced Brasilia's readiness to shore up trade exchanges and operationalize agreements with Tehran.

He mentioned Iran as a trusted partner for Brazil to expand its economic relations in the West Asian region and expressed his country's readiness to develop cooperation with Iran in different areas, including technology and agriculture. 

The two sides highlighted the important role of the BRICS group in strengthening multilateralism in the international system and stressed the mutual support of the two countries of each other's positions in the international system. 

The meeting of the national security advisors of BRICS member countries and BRICS Plus under the title "Cyber security review as a developing challenge for global security" started on Monday, July 24, in Johannesburg, South Africa.
