Iran Press/ Iran News: In an interview with the Iran Press reporter in Gorgan, the capital of Iran's northern province of Golestan, regarding the importance of handicrafts in introducing tourism capacities and Iranian identity, Maryam Jalali stated that the tourists who enter the country, in addition to enjoying nature, are also looking for the essence of that region, which is manifested in the form of handicrafts.
She noted that there should be a link between handicrafts and the tourism sector, and tourist accommodation places in different cities of Iran, especially hotels, should be decorated with handicrafts of the same region.
She highlighted that it is necessary for the three pillars of cultural heritage, tourism, and handicrafts, to be connected and move together.
Pointing out that handicrafts are an essential pillar of the economy, Jalali said that tourism causes the presence of tourists and the prosperity of business, handicrafts cause the identity-based economy, and cultural heritage also cause attention to the Iranian identity.
Regarding the introduction of Kermanshah province, west of Iran, as a creative food city in UNESCO, she said that the presence of Iranian handicrafts and creativity in international forums shows the importance of complying with global standards in the production of Iranian brands and that all provinces of Iran have a remarkable capacity to participate in international discussions.
UNESCO recently announced the list of creative cities for 2021, and Kermanshah was the only representative of Iran as an innovative food city.
The Secretary-General of the UNESCO Commission in Iran, Hojatollah Ayyoubi, stated that introducing Kermanshah as a creative food city is an opportunity to use this symbolic capital to attract more tourists.
