A senior Hamas official has announced the suspension of indirect negotiations with Israel following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political bureau.

Iran Press/ West Asia:  The official, who requested anonymity, stated that the suspension is a direct response to the assassination of Haniyeh in Tehran. The move has intensified pressure on Hamas to return to negotiations, but the group has taken a firm stance against resuming talks without clear guarantees.

The official criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for escalating the conflict and targeting Palestinian leaders, asserting that Netanyahu's actions are aimed at maintaining his political position, even if it prolongs the conflict in Gaza.

The Al-Quds Al-Arabi media added that Israel's expectation that the assassination would force Hamas to make further concessions has backfired, with the resistance group taking additional steps that could hinder future negotiations.

On Wednesday, the Public Relations Office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed that Haniyeh and one of his guards were martyred in Tehran due to an attack on their residence.

This assassination has prompted reactions from governments, leaders, resistance groups, and various international figures condemning the act and expressing solidarity with Hamas.
