Iran Press/ Iran News: "It is time for Lebanese officials to act responsibly and form a government that can meet the needs and expectations of the nation," the UN chief António Guterres said.
Guterres, while urging Lebanese officials to form a government as soon as possible, called for an impartial and transparent investigation into last year's bombing of the port of Beirut.
The UN Secretary-General added: "Frustration and despair over the political turmoil and the economic crisis have actually manifested themselves in the protests and may lead to more violence and threaten the stability of the country."
Lebanon has been governed without a government since last summer, when the port of Beirut witnessed a large and devastating explosion, through the government of Hassan Dayyab, which resigned after the explosion and increased pressure.
Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri was finally elected to form Lebanon's new government on October 22, 2020, but he has so far failed to form a cabinet.
