Iran Press/ Iran news: Saeed Khatibzadeh, Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, today (Monday) in a weekly presser, while explaining the latest developments in the field of foreign policy, answered the questions.
Khatibzadeh announced that consultations are continuing in Vienna within the framework of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Foreign Ministry spokesman also referred to Mohammad Javad Zarif’s visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia last week.
He referred to the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Iraq to Iran on Saturday and also the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Tehran yesterday (Sunday) and added: "Today we will host the Minister of Interior of Tajikistan in Iran."
The senior diplomat in response to a question about the statements of Ulyanov, the representative of Russia in the Vienna talks, on the fact that there is no plan for the sixth round yet, and how likely is this final round? He stated: “I have already stated the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran. We conduct the negotiations and discussions in Vienna with the necessary care and obsession. Each round could have been the last round, but because some of the remaining issues have been moved to the next round.”
Khatibzadeh added that if the remaining key issues are resolved, it could be the last round, but if it is not, it will continue. The Vienna talks have made good and significant progress in all three working groups, but key issues remain. These issues must also be addressed carefully.
Responding to the question the official noted: "All US sanctions should be lifted. Verification will take place and this verification will take place in the formulas discussed in Vienna, and then Iran will reverse its remedial measures."
Regarding the visit of the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister, he said: "This visit focused on upstream documents and meetings were held with Mr. Dejpsand. Trade relations and the payment of Iraq's debts to Iran, Iran's electricity and gas exports to Iraq, and Iran's readiness to continue exporting were discussed, and it was assured that this process would continue if Iraq took effective steps to pay its debts.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to a question about the issuance of a license to transfer $ 125 million from Iran's foreign exchange resources in Iraq to a Swiss bank, said: "Iraq's debt to Iran is clear. All statistics are at the disposal of the Central Bank and details should be requested from the Central Bank. These talks took place in Tehran and Baghdad, and this was one of the topics in Saturday's trip, and this issue is being followed up.
Regarding US oil purchases from Iran, Saeed Khatibzadeh said: "No oil has been purchased from Iran since Obama's administration. Maybe they mean something else that I do not have details about right now, and I cannot comment."
About the holding of presidential elections abroad, he also stated that the Foreign Ministry had had a headquarters headed by the consular deputy; the ministry had been responsible for holding elections abroad, and a meeting on this issue was held at the ministry yesterday. He noted that embassies and consulates-general had received the necessary instructions.
Regarding the arrest of a French tourist, he said: "I do not have the details, and I have to ask."
On the Vienna talks, he pointed out that there was no deadlock in the talks, and the talks had reached key points; key issues needed to be decided, which requires its own care, obsession, and time.
"We do not allow the talks to get attritional, nor do we rush. Our criterion is to ensure the highest interests of the people and the system. Our team follows the instructions from Tehran. The United States must decide whether to continue Trump's failed legacy or turn the page and return to its commitments under the JCPOA and if that happens, Iran's response is the full implementation of the nuclear deal," he explained.
"The future, peace, and stability in Afghanistan have been our main focus on the strategic document of cooperation between the two countries. 99% has been ready for a long time. It is one or two issues that the Afghan government has not announced its decision," Khatibzadeh underlined.
