After repairing the damaged gas pipeline from Salman field to Siri and Assaluyeh islands, the production and transfer of natural gas from the joint field will be resumed within the next month, the production manager of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company said.

Iran PressIran news: According to Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), Amirsalari said: “Due to the pressure drop in the 30-inch pipeline transferring gas from Salman field to Siri Island, in November, the necessary measures were taken to diagnose and investigate the matter.”

He said that the repair of the pipeline is very complicated due to the great depth of water and unfavorable sea conditions, adding: "Fortunately, this project has been handed over to one of the capable domestic contractors and the relevant repairs have begun."

Salman Oil and Gas Field is located 142 km south of the Persian Gulf’s Lavan Island, near the Iran-UAE sea border.

Iran and the UAE share Salman gas field. Some 70 percent of the offshore gas field is located in Iranian waters, and the remaining 30 percent is in the Persian Gulf.

The field will produce 500 million cubic feet of natural gas and 50,000 barrels of crude oil per day once it is developed fully.

In January fire in an underwater pipeline interrupted production at the field.
