Iran Press/ Iran News: The Iranian Minister of Interior, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli in a meeting on countering the contraband of goods and currency smuggling said an annual report on the illegal entrance of smuggled goods indicates a significant fall.
Rahmani Fazli stated, "Both incoming and outgoing smuggled goods are estimated around 12 billion dollars. 80 percent of smuggled goods are related to fuel smuggling, which fortunately we have witnessed 9 billion liters' decrease."
The minister reiterated that several other plans were proposed to combat the smuggling of cigarettes and household appliances.
He said, "As long as non-standard and non-guaranteed smuggled household appliances are harmful to the public, the associations and guilds are playing the main and first role to check and control from the origin: ports, customs, wholesalers and then retailers."
"It is now, the associations and retailers have been given eight-month of notice to comply with new legislation on the fight against contraband and smuggling. During the given time, they can sell their products, but when the notice period ends, we should not witness any non-standard goods in the market", Rahmani-Fazli stated.
Highlighting another report in the meeting, the Interior Minister said, "The systems are essentially integral for coordination and if we coordinate with all the relevant organizations from start to finish, the end-users including people at financial, goods, trade and production field; we definitely will control smuggling in the unofficial markets.
