Iran-Russia discuss latest Syrian developments

Iran's Ambassador to Moscow had a phone conversation with Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister about resolving the Syrian crisis and providing humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.

Iran PressEurope: Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Friday that Kazem Jalali and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vasilyevich Vershinin had discussed the developments in Syria.

In the telephone conversation, the focus was on assisting in the political settlement of the Syrian crisis in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254, unanimously adopted on 18 December 2015, calling for a ceasefire and political settlement in Syria, and humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.

Both sides stressed the need for humanitarian assistance to Syria without political considerations.

The Iranian Ambassador and the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister also discussed some issues of bilateral relations, as well as regional and international issues.

It is worth mentioning that Iran and Russia are working closely with each other in the framework of the Astana talks along with Turkey to resolve the Syrian issue.

The heavy defeat of the terrorists in Syria which were supported by the West and some Arab countries in the region, the drastic reduction of violence in Syria, and the return of a large number of Syrian refugees to their homeland are the fruits of cooperation between the three countries.

Iran, Russia talk on US recent anti-Iran moves

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation, in a telephone conversation with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on Friday 26 June, consulted about the US recent anti-Iranian actions.

The two sides also discussed important bilateral and international issues, including the latest status of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), UN Security Council's Resolution 2231, and the US illegal moves to extend Iran's arms embargo as well as Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
