Permanent Representative of Russia to International Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov expressed the strong impression that US policy on Iran isn’t well calculated.

Iran PressEurope: "If Washington succeeds with a derailing of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action JCPOA the Additional Protocol would cease to apply. As a result, the Iranian nuclear program would become much less transparent. Is that what the US wants to achieve? What for?," Ulyanov tweeted."

In other words, those who don’t comply with sunset provisions of Annex B of resolution 2231 can not be recognized to be as JCPOA participants by definition. This is a dispute-ending point forever," Russian diplomat highlighted.

"The US hopes to retain the rights of a JCPOA participant. It is a groundless claim because of withdrawal from Iran's nuclear deal. According to Annex B of Resolution 2231 participation of China, France, Germany, RF, UK, and the US in JCPOA is contingent upon compliance with “sunset” provisions, including an arms embargo," Mikhail Ulyanov wrote in a series of tweets.

"Annex B of resolution 2231 is a trap for the US. If the US is a JCPOA participant, it cannot question current provisions on the arms embargo. If Wash. tries to revise decisions on the arms embargo, it becomes yet another (one of many) reasons to reject US ridiculous claims to be a participant," he underscored.
