Iran Press/ Europe: On the sideline of the sixty-third annual meeting of the UN Commission on Drugs at the UN Headquarters in Vienna, Brigadier General Eskandar Momeni met with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Executive Director Ghada Wali and noted that Iran is one of the main UNODC partners in the West Asian region and has over twenty years of experience in cooperating with the Office.
"We are now in the final year of the fourth Iranian Partnership Program, which includes four sub-programs including Combating supply, Demand reduction, Treatment and prevention, and Sustainable Development and Alternative Livelihoods," he said.
Momeni emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports maintaining and strengthening the effective role of the Commission on Drugs (CND), the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) as well as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), stating, "We firmly believe that all drug policy and decision-making should be guided by the authority of these institutions as structures approved by the international drug regime."
