Terrorist groups, positioned in al-Rashidin area to the southwest of Aleppo city, fired shells on the residential neighborhoods of al-Hamadanieh and the 3000 Apartments Project as two civilians were martyred and 6 others were injured, SANA reporter in Aleppo said.
The reporter added that an army unit retaliated through targeting the areas from which the shells were fired with precise strikes, destroying fortified positions of the terrorists and missile launching pads.
Earlier, Israeli rockets had hit a Syrian military position near Nairab airport on the outskirts of the city of Aleppo.
The Zionist enemy targets one of our military sites north of Nairab airport, causing only material damage,” said Syrian state news agency SANA, quoting a military source.
On May 10, Syria’s army downed dozens of missiles fired from Israeli warplanes at army positions near the city of al-Baath in the Golan Heights. This attack was part of a more massive Israeli strike.
In the previous months , Syria announced that several of its military bases located in the provinces of Hama and Aleppo have come under missile fire.
Over the past few years, the Israeli military has launched sporadic attacks against various targets on Syrian soil, in assaults slammed by Syria as attempts to boost terrorist groups who have been suffering heavy defeats on the battlefield with Syrian government forces.
The crisis in Syria, which flared in March 2011, has so far claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and displaced nearly half of the Arab country’s population within or out of its borders.
