Iran Press/Iran news: Following the outbreak of the coronavirus, Eid al-Fitr prayers were held in 27 designated places in Mashhad, observing social distancing and health protocols.
The holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Imam of the Shias, was closed to pilgrims in Mashhad as the outbreak of corona, and this year it did not host fasting people and is scheduled to reopen after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Eid al-Fitr is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal. It marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and prayer. Many Muslims attend prayers, listen to a khutba (sermon), and give zakat al-Fitr (a form of obligatory charity) during Eid al-Fitr.
