Zarif: EU would do better to assert its sovereignty

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister has said the EU would be better off if it asserted its sovereignty because if the Europeans give an inch to the US, it will demand a mile, with the US being emboldened.

Iran Press/Iran news: "Sorry to say I told you so: When E3 sold out remnants of JCPOA to avoid Trump tariffs last week, I warned that it would only whet his appetite," Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on his Twitter page on Wednesday.

After selling their integrity and losing any moral or legal ground, Zarif added, now the EU faces another tariff threat.

"EU would do better to exert its sovereignty," the Minister wrote.

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he is serious about imposing tariffs on European automobiles if he can’t strike a trade agreement with the European Union.
