Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Abbas Mousavi

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman referred to a statement issued at the 40th Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) summit held in Riyadh, noting that repeated allegations in the statement are the result of political pressure from just a few members of the Council.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said that with their narrow-mindedness over the years, they have not only plundered the wealth of neighboring countries but have also allowed more foreign intervention in this sensitive region.

Mousavi added: "Supporting US economic terrorism contradicts principles of  good neighborliness."

Foreign Ministry Spokesman went on to say that few members of the council are willing to continue their irrational policies to eliminate the opportunities for cooperation offered by Iran with the aim of securing and stabilizing the region. Mousavi pointedly said: "Other countries in the region should not allow this to happen."

According to an Iran Press report, Mousavi referred to Iran's responsible behavior over the years, adding: "Non-aggression pact, the Regional Dialogue Forum and finally the Hormuz Peace Endeavor (HOPE) have been part of our efforts to realize regional cooperation."

The Spokesman urged the few countries that support the region's irrational policies to respond to regional public opinion on what they have done, if anything, to reduce tensions in the region.

Mousavi lambasted a few PGCC members for bringing terrorists and Takfiris into Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and inviting foreigners into the Persian Gulf region.

Countries whose irresponsible interventions in other countries have massacred innocent civilians, from women and children to the elderly and have led to widespread insecurity and terrorism in the region, are seeking to escape punishment for their war crimes.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman considered the three Iranian islands of Abu Musa, the Great Tunb and the Little Tunb as an integral and eternal part of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding: "Our country considers any claim on these islands as interference in its internal affairs and strongly condemns such claims."

He added, "All the actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the islands have been taken in accordance with the established rights and in accordance with the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and Iran categorically rejects the repetition of these interventionist stances."
