Iran Press/Iran news: Iran Atomic Energy Organization spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi pointed out that after the activation of 'Fordo' centrifuges following the order of Iran's President to implement the fourth step of reducing obligations, given that "Uranium enrichment and the production of stable isotopes face difficulty in the same room," negotiations with Russian has taken place in this regard.
"Negotiations are underway on how to implement this project in such a way that technical difficulties are eliminated," Kamalvandi noted.
Russia's TVEL nuclear fuel company, a subsidiary of Rosatom nuclear corporation, said earlier in the day that it had suspended a project to repurpose activities at Iran's Fordow nuclear plant due to the start of uranium enrichment at the facility.
Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Thursday, December 6th in a statement: Moscow does not waiver the project, but due to technical issues a temporary suspension is implemented.
Iran's Atomic Energy Organization began uranium enrichment and reprocessing at Fordow in the first minutes of Thursday, November 7, following the fourth step in reducing its obligations in line with the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
On May 8, 2018, US President Donald Trump pulled his country out of the 2015 nuclear accord. Following the US withdrawal, Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to save the accord. However, the EU’s failure of ensuring Iran’s economic interests forced Tehran to stop observing certain commitments under JCPOA in May 2019.
