Khosravi border reopening

The director of the Arbaeen headquarters in Iran's Kermanshah province said Khosravi border will be reopened on Friday for the pilgrims to attend the Arbaeen mourning ceremony in Iraq.

Iran Press/Iran news: The director of Kermanshah's Arbaeen headquarters, Massoud Bahramnejad said: "In the next hour, the first group of pilgrims will leave Iran for Iraq after a day stop."

Due to Iraq's internal protests and at the request of Iraqi officials, the Khosrovi border was temporarily closed on Thursday. However, it was open to Iraqi travelers heading to Iran and trade was also continuing without interruption, Iran Press reported.

Khosravi border is the closest border and the most convenient border crossing for many Iranian pilgrims visiting Iraq. So its long-anticipated opening ceremony this September was attended by both the Iranian interior minister and his Iraqi counterpart, after years of closure.

This year, four border crossings, namely Khosravi, Mehran, Chazzabeh, and Shalamcheh are open for Arbaeen pilgrims. Among these only Khosravi was closed temporarily due to a request by the Iraqi government, and all the others were open and operating. 101/211/219
