Iran press/IranIranian national women's kabaddi team defeated heavyweight India 27-24 in the final game of 2018 Asian Games kabaddi competitions on Friday to win its first gold medal in the history of the event.

Iran beat the world champion, while it had lost the game to the rival 13-11 in the first half. 

In its group, the Iranian team has defeated South Korea and Bangladesh and lost its game against China Taipei. 

In the semi-finals, the Iranian national women's kabaddi team beat Thailand to advance to the finals where it also defeated India to win the gold medal. 

With this medal, the Iranian squad has won 11 gold medals in the 18th Asian Games so far. 

The Iranian national men's Kabbadi team has also reached the final game of the tournament and will face South Korea hours later. 

The 18th Asian Games is being held from August 18 to September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.
