Iranian Foreign Minister in his trip to Moscow stated Iran and Russia relations as a strategic one.

Iran Press/Europe: On arriving at 'Vnukovo' International Airport in Moscow on Sunday night 29th December, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif referred to the Russia-Iran strategic relations and said: "Coordination and consultation with Russia should continue on regional and international issues."

Regarding the naval drills of Iran, Russia, and China, Zarif also said: "This military exercise reflects the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate in maintaining the safety and freedom of shipping for all on the important international waterway of the strait of Hormuz.

"The joint wargames also showed that the major world powers do not subscribe to the policies and actions that create tension in the region," he told reporters upon arriving in Moscow late on Sunday.

The four-day military drills started on Friday North of Oman Sea in the Indian Ocean.

To a question on the agenda of his visit, Zarif said Iran and Russia enjoy strategic ties and need to constantly exchange ideas on bilateral relations, a well as regional and international developments.

Bilateral talks between Iranian and Russian foreign ministers are scheduled for Monday. 205/219
