A Russian security officer killed and five other people injured in a shooting near the headquarters of Russia's main security agency in Moscow.

Iran PressEurope: The Federal Security Service, or FSB, said on Thursday evening that an unidentified gunman opened fire outside the FSB headquarters in Moscow, killing one officer and wounding five other people.

According to FSB, the assailant was acting alone and didn't manage to enter the building.

The FSB said the assailant is killed in gunfire exchanges with security forces.

The health ministry said five other people were wounded in Thursday's shooting, including two security officers who were badly injured.

The FSB said the shooting occurred at a building directly behind its headquarters on Lubyanka Square.

The agency didn't give further details or comment on the attacker's motives.
