Iran Press/Europe: Addressing the reporters on Wednesday regarding Iran's nuclear agreement in 2015 known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow understood why Tehran was cutting back on its commitments.
According to Iran Press, Russian Foreign Minister blamed the situation on the US decision to pull out of JCPOA, saying: "Many European countries ignore the root cause of the current crisis, that is, the US complete withdrawal from the agreement."
Lavrov went to say, "There are easier ways to handle all of this responsibility, so we understand why Iran is reducing its commitments. Iran reduces the level of its commitment, which is voluntary in line with the Security Council resolution and is directly tied to the obligations of other countries in securing Iran's legitimate economic interests."
He added, "I would like to remind you that all efforts to reduce Iran's commitments are done by notifying the IAEA and with the presence of IAEA inspectors without any breach of the provisions of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Additional Protocol to the Agreements."
The Russian Foreign Minister at the end noted that Russia is concerned about the status of JCPOA. 101/219
