In a meeting with visiting Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari, President Vu?i? called for enhancement of interactions between the people of both countries and boost in tourism cooperation between the two countries.
Shariatmadari , who is in Belgrade to participate in the 15th session of joint economic cooperation commission, termed Iran and Serbia as the anchors of peace and stability in West Asia and the Balkans.
He said despite the US unilateral withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran has stayed in the deal trying to promote its cooperation with other countries.
Submitting an invitation letter from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to his Serbian counterpart for a visit to Tehran, Shariatmadari expressed hope that President Vu?i? would pay an official visit to Iran at an appropriate time.
The Iranian minister termed lifting of visa requirements for Iranian and Serbian nationals, operating of direct flights between Tehran and Belgrade and holding of joint commission session as important events in the relations between the two countries. He also hoped that Tehran-Belgrade ties would further expand in various fields.
