The regional government in Catalonia has failed to form a cabinet once again after Spanish government blocks the formation of a new Government in the region.

The Spanish government is against the appointment of four ex-officials included in the cabinet list.

Quim Torra has been elected president of Catalunia last week, but to be able to leave decree 155 (Control of local government of Catalonia from Madrid)government must be formed.

Madrid is prosecuting them for their role in the 2017 independence referendum.

The development allows Spanish Prime minister Mariano Rajoy to extend the application of direct rule in the region.

A new focus of tension between the governments of Spain and Catalonia has increased rapidly.
