Director-General for West Asia at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the country supports a complete withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan.

Iran PressIran news: Director-General for West Asia at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rasoul Mousavi made the remarks on Sunday at the 8th Herat Security Dialogue summit, saying that Iran supports a complete withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan.

According to Mousavi, American forces' withdrawal from Afghanistan is the only way to make peace in this country.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will strongly support any negotiations which are in the interest of the Afghan government and its people," he added.

"Peace without justice in Afghanistan is meaningless and will never be stable," the Iranian official noted.

The Director-General of West Asia at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that recent US actions will not be beneficial for sustainable peace in Afghanistan.

"Legitimacy belongs to the Afghan people and lasting peace is achieved with national legitimacy," he stated.

The eighth round of 'Herat Security Dialogue' was held on October 18-19 in Herat with representatives from the Islamic Republic of Iran, India, Pakistan, Russia, the European Union, the United States, Germany, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The meeting emphasized the resumption of peace talks.
