Over two dozen Republicans join bipartisan proposal requiring US president to get authorization from Congress before taking military action.

Iran Press/America: The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives voted Friday a bipartisan proposal to limit US President Donald Trump’s authority to make war against Iran.

The measure passed with 251-170 tally to require Trump to get authorisation from Congress to conduct military strikes against Iran, RT reported.

The Trump administration has promised to veto the House measure.

In June the Senate rejected an amendment to its annual defence authorisation bill that would have blocked President Donald Trump from launching a war with Iran without congressional approval.

The measure comes as the US has sent thousands of troops, an aircraft carrier, nuclear-capable B-52 bombers and advanced fighter jets to the Persian Gulf region.

The US has also re-imposed tough sanctions against Iran. 101/211/205
