Why it matters:
Pakistan is one of the largest, densely populated Muslim countries in Asia and can play a significant role in the global anti-Israeli movement. Demonstrations that take place in countries such as the U.S., the U.K., France, and Pakistan can raise public awareness about the war crimes committed by the U.S.-backed Israeli regime in Gaza.
The big picture:
The protest organized by the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML) in Islamabad on Monday night was led by the party’s presidents, including Khalid Masood Sindhu and other leaders. With U.S. support, Israel broke the ceasefire agreement and not only violated the sanctity of Ramadan but also continued the genocide of Palestinians on the days of Eid al-Fitr.
What they're saying:
PMML leader Khalid Masood Sindhu: "When a problem cannot be resolved through dialogue, it has to be confronted, and this is the job of governments. Today, governments, along with the people, have to raise their voices for Gaza."
PMML leader Ehsan Ullah Mansoor: " The founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, said that we will not accept the existence of the Israeli state under any circumstances. The best solution to eliminate this illegitimate state is to invite all Jews to America and settle them, just as Trump is suggesting that Muslims leave Gaza."
The Chairperson of International Peace and Culture Organization, Mashal Malik: "People who are witnessing Palestinians getting martyred but doing nothing, they are dead bodies. The people who are standing with this resistance are on the faith as Allah has always proven that through the weak, He has taken over."
Former Senator and the head of Save Gaza Campaign, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan: " At the behest of the U.S. and its European allies, Israel has violated international law by breaking the ceasefire agreement, and a genocide is underway, which is being sponsored by the U.S., Europe, and Israel."
