Iran Press/ America: The United States passed 600,000 COVID-19 deaths on Monday, about 15% of the world’s total coronavirus fatalities of around 4 million, a Reuters tally shows.
Meanwhile, slowing vaccination rates threaten the Biden administration target of having 70% of US adults receive at least one shot and 160 million fully inoculated by July 4.
So far, the country has vaccinated 166 million adults with at least one dose, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), although the rate of shots administered has dropped significantly from a mid-April peak.
On the other hand, across the United States, governments are loosening social distancing rules and relaxing mask mandates, and businesses are fully reopening amid a steady decline in COVID-19 cases and sustained progress in the nation’s vaccination campaign.
