Winds, gusting up to 100 kilometers per hour, have battered the city of Orumiah, in the north west. The strong winds knocked down city billboards, power lines and trees, causing havoc in Orumiah, the provincial capital of West Azerbaijan Province.
According to unconfirmed reports, a 51-year-old woman was killed, and another person was injured, due to fall of heavy objects in stormy weather in Germi County, Ardabil Province.
Iran's National Meteorological Office has forecast stormy weather and high-speed winds in western and south-western provinces.
The gale-force winds are also expected to hit the Iranian capital, Tehran, in the coming days.
