He made the remarks at the open session of the Iranian Parliament where he was summoned to answer a question regarding intelligence ministry’s precautionary measures to prevent terrorist attacks in the future.

Addressing MPs in the Majlis, Alavi said: "Intelligence services of neighbouring countries, and even far-away countries, are now directly engaged in undermining the security of Iran. They fully support terrorist groups financially and logistically while also providing special training for them."

Iran has identified more than 300 teams and prevented them from taking action in Iran, said Alavi in October 14.

He went on to say that the intelligence ministry has managed to foil 97 to 98 out of every 100 attempted terrorist attacks, a record which compares very fovourably with the record of other intelligence services across the world. He added: "No intelligence service in the world can claim to prevent 100% of  all terrorist attacks."

Commenting further Alavi said: "Studying the international security performance of advanced countries of the world, such as Germany, France and United States, which have capable intelligence services, we notice that Iran is standing at the last row in terms of insecurity.   Iranian security forces are highly alert, monitoring closely the activities of the terrorists."

At the end of the session, MP Jahanbakhsh Mohebbinia who had put the original question to the minister, declared his satisfaction with Alavi’s answer.
